On May 12, 2012 Garena launched in May 2012 the Garena Premier League (GPL) which is a six-month professional league for online gamers with more than 100 matches being played. The inaugural season of GPL features six teams of professional League of Legends players. They represent the best players from their nations. GPL games are filmed and live streamed online with commentary, available for viewing on the GPL's official site. Garena Premier League 2013 includes two new teams from Taiwan and Vietnam which brings the total amount of teams up to eight. AHQ, Saigon Fantastic Five, Bangkok Titans, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, Manila Eagles, Taipei Assassins, and Singapore Sentinels are the teams. Garena's eSports stadium, a place that is dedicated to esports within the Neihu District Taipei, opened on the 14th of November 14, 2014. The facility was built to host games from the League of Legends Masters Series - the highest-level LoL Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau league. It was a spin-off from GPL. The first month of January in 2015, Garena launched Iron Solari League an all-women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. This is a bi-monthly event which takes place during the second quarter of each month. The event is meant to boost participation among the those who are underrepresented, and is available to everyone who defines themselves as a woman. In addition to tournaments that are competitive, Garena also organizes events that allow users for offline networking and meeting.
