
Rachel Keller is a fictional character from The Ring film series. The character was developed by writer and producer Ehren Kruger and played by Naomi Watts, serves as the main character in The Ring and The Ring Two, sharing similarities to Reiko Asakawa from the first Japanese films.Introduced in the 2002 film, Rachel is an investigative journalist who must figure out how to avoid death after having watched an unlucky video tape she came across while investigating the death of her niece. In The Ring Two, Rachel is required to investigate the past of Samara Morgan after her son becomes sick with an unknown ailment.In The Ring, Rachel Keller who is an investigative journalist is approached by her sister Ruth to investigate the enigmatic reasons behind Katie's death. Rachel is informed by Ruth, her sister, that she discovered Katie's deformed body inside the closet. She also discovered that Katie was killed by an attack on her heart. Rachel examines the tape to discover the place of the lighthouse. It was located on Moesko Island. Anna Morgan, a cursed horse breeder, appeared on the tape. When she investigates, Rachel discovers Anna had an adopted daughter, named Samara and she had the power to burn disturbing images into the minds of people including animals, people and even objects. Rachel is forced to leave Anna's widower Richard when she starts asking questions about Samara.
